The data behind PlumageDispatch

Every comparison and article on this site renders from one structured dataset. This page is that dataset: the headline numbers it currently shows, and the raw file, free to download, reuse, and check against our pages.

What the data shows right now

What re-verification has caught so far

We re-verify records against the brands' own pages: by hand around every big update, plus an automated weekly check (method on the methodology page). Findings from those re-verification passes so far, each dated:

Alongside the cost dataset we keep a second, smaller artifact: a record of which category and brand search terms actually show demand, and how we checked. It is our demand-validation work, captured June 18, 2026. 3 terms cleared validation against measured US data; 1 more is listed with a third-party figure only.

How to read this: "Measured US volume" is the range we read in Google Keyword Planner for the United States (it returns bucketed ranges, not exact counts). "Our verdict" comes from our own pass against US Google Trends and our Search Console. The Exploding Topics figures are third-party modeled estimates we tested (their default scope is worldwide, though we did not confirm the locale), not numbers we measured, and several of their growth claims did not hold up: Bird Buddy's modeled growth, for one, is contradicted by US Trends, which peaked in late 2024 and softened since. Treat growth as a direction signal and volume as a size signal, never as a measured PlumageDispatch metric.

Bird Buddy
brand
DEMAND-CORROBORATED
Strengthen existing Bird Buddy coverage (issue #31)
10,000-100,000 / mo High and well above the category anchor; rose to a Nov 2024 peak, then softened through 2025-2026 49,500 vol / +145%
Smart Bird Feeder
category
DEMAND-CORROBORATED
Buyer-guide pillar page, live (issue #32)
10,000-100,000 / mo Rising: winter peaks grew three years running and a spring 2026 surge held; on the shared comparison axis its 5-year average still sits just below the anchor 14,800 vol / +3133%
AI Bird Feeder
category
PLAUSIBLE-UNCONFIRMED
Lightweight AI-identification test page, live (issue #33); promote to a full pillar only if it earns first-party AI-intent impressions
100-1,000 / mo A real but small recent US rise on its own axis, far below the category anchor; the base is tiny, so read the direction, not the size 880 vol / +3200%
toddleroo
adjacent brand
UNVALIDATED
none (revisit only if a toddleroo-specific page is ever proposed)
not pulled not read 720 vol / +22%

Download the trend index: JSON or CSV (CC BY 4.0, reads captured June 18, 2026). Each record carries the full per-term notes, the measured-US source, and the verdict basis. This index is the secondary artifact; the cost dataset below remains the primary one.

Download and reuse

Download the full dataset: JSON or CSV (version 2026.08.06). One record per model: brand, model, hardware price + confidence, subscription requirement, free-tier contents and limits, paid-tier pricing, documented gotchas, specs, and the primary source URLs each claim rests on. Both formats are the same live data this site renders from.
